I have the EXT 100 Gallon Complete Reef System with the Mighty Jet DC XL return pump. Can I replace my stock return nozzles with Flex Series Random Flow Generators?
If so, what size should I get, and how many would I need? I was thinking about using four 1/2" RFG nozzles—would that be appropriate, or should I go with a different size or quantity?

1/2” VCA RFGs have an optimal flow range of 300-450GPH each, 3/4” RFGs have an optimal flow range of 420-500GPH each…

Your pump and plumbing layout will dictate the observed flow rate you’re actually getting at your return nozzle(s), so I’d recommend checking a flow chart for your pump, then speccing your RFG size based on that!

That pump would easily support and be abel to supply dual 3/4in Random Flow Generator® nozzles. - I belive that rated for close to 2500 GPH. Of course as @UncommonSense pointed out, you're plumbing will come into plasy, in tems of how much flow you can provide to the outlets.

The next big challenge will be connecting a dual 3/4in Flow kit to that tank. They used to come with the an actual 3/4in Bulkhead with genuine 3/4in Loc-Line fittings.

If yours is like that - than you're goldeden - You can use any of our flow ktis that incldue 3/4in Loc-Line, or even the stadard 3/4in RFG

Ultimate XL Return Line Upgrade Kit – Dual 3/4 Flex-Series RFG

or the singel 3/4in Flow kit

But - more recently they have 3/4in pipework that is reduced at the bulkehad into 20mm bulkehad with a thin bushing glued in to reduce it down to 19mm on the wet side. This is to accomodate thier dual Nuvo Nozzle kit that looks like this:

if yours has this, then the options are little diffent

The standard 1/2in Random Flow Generator is directly compatibole with the outlets of that Y setup - Remove the flare tips and just add the RFGs - You'll need one RFG for tip.

Flex Series 1/2in Random Flow Generator – RFG050-FLX

The other option is to convert that 20mm bulkhead to 3/4in Loc-Line. You can do that with the 2025-075 Mulidapter fitting

Multidapter 2025-075 – 20-25mm Pipe to 3/4in Loc-Line Adapter

if you add that dapter you can then use either of the two flow kits listed above, that have 3/4in Loc-line.

Hopefull that all makes sense
