Indiana, north?

Who here live in indiana? Mainly Indy and north?
I'm located 1.5hrs north of Indy. Just looking for some more locals to talk with about some local problems with our pet stores. In my opinion, most of these places are ruining the hobby. Owners who don't let employees sell corals, but only work weekdays until 3?! Places that use 40w garage bulbs on 55g reefs! Moldy fish carcass? If you live in indiana and notice your lfs is bad as well post your issue and maybe we can all rally together and bring some change to our community.

There are some awesome places if you can find them! But the numbers are shrinking. Hurry now and lets get these places the help they need and fast!

I'm fairly close to you! About an hour north of Indy. The only places I have been since moving here is the LFS in Lafayette and Premium in Indy.

What other places have you been to?

I've asked around about other places in Indy - Reef, Uncle Bills, etc, but haven't heard much about what saltwater items they carry, health of tanks, etc.

I have been putting off Indmas for absolutely no reason other than time haha. Between my group of hobbyists, r2r, music, and my life away from the tank and guitars I am pretty busy.

Premium is good, wish it was closer...Marion used to have reallllly awesome places but they have been going down hill recently. One place is growin algae while the other just hoards the good stuff. Fart in motion is my favorite of the 2. If chuck would just part with his pink and green candy cane....

Places that concern me;
Wabash and Kokomo. In wabash the pet store is huge!!! 26,000 sq feet and it is a mom and pop shop. They sell corals for $35 no matter how sick or worthless the coral is. Frags of any kind (all 3 of them) for $20 and most of the livestock is not even open! If a fish does and the owner is off for the weekend the employees are NOT ALLOWED TO REMOVE THEM! So a weekend of a rotting snowflake eel in a multitank setup is what they sell. Wow! What a great deal. I have talked with the owners, I am a good fried of them and an ex-employee granted it was in te dog grooming shop so I assumed they would listen to my point, or at least hire me as a weekend worker for their saltwater stuff. Ugh. And if you ask them what the corals names are they have no clue. I don't know how they order stuff that way but once in a blue moon you will see a ridiculous coral for dirt cheap.

In Kokomo the price is doubled an so are the casualties. The difference? The employees CAN remove dead fish...do they? Sure doesn't smell like it. So $60 and you can get a rotten gorgonian. Lunar wrasse for $50?! Petco down the road is cheaper than that and sadly better at caring for fish! Come on!?

I have wrote letters and personally talked with this place as well, only to get negative responses. "Go to dr foster and smith," was my favorite answer from those critter coroners. Neither place gets my business anymore until they make a serious change.

Most places around the big cities are ok, Lafayette being the most positive as far as reviews but you pay for that kind of quality, and they have no competition so they can charge $60 for a black clownfish.

I regrettably have to drive to Michigan to get good prices and and quality. Worse case scenario I have gotten up north is an aptasia on a frag. Super glue it and its gone!
