I have the same inkbird. It's set to 79-80 degrees and my heater is set at 79. I get maybe .3 degree swings. Is your heater adjustable?

Ehiem 100watt Yes it is.

The tank is sitting up against a window so the Michigan swings are for sure playing with the temp. I plan to keep SPS in the tank and want to keep it as stable as possible so I may upgrade my temp controller. Not sure yet.

Keep in mind that each Celsius degree = 1.8 Fahrenheit degrees. A half Celsius degree differential is essentially equivalent to a full Fahrenheit degree. Immaterial.

My Ink Bird does the same thing. Set to 79, it lets the temp fall to 78 and then turns on the heaters until the temp is 79 again.
Time to replace the heaters as they are 3 years old. I think I will try Finnex with the electronic controller. I like the idea, as above of setting the heaters to 79 and the Ink Bird to ~81 to see if the Finnex has tighter control and the Ink Bird is a back up for heater failure in the On position.
