Got an Inkbird ITC 306A that kept displaying high temp at around 165 degree even though my bucket water is only 60 degree. When I go to setting to calibrate it, the max is 15 degree adjustment. I tried to reset it by pressing the decrease button then plug it in, but no beep nothing. Am I doing it wrong?

Also I am curious on the BRS titanium heater, if it runs without the temp controller, does it just keep heating to a point water is boiling or fail?

It will keep heating. There's no thermostat on those heaters. Thus the reason a controller is needed

I would guess a bad probe or connection

The heater will heat continuously while plugged in

I am thinking that too. The probe do reacts to temp change as I hold it with my fingers and temp increased to 170 but I just need to either find another to reset it

Try disconnecting the temp prob and reconnecting. The proper way to calibrate the Inkbird is by using a glass of ice water and another trusted thermometer.

I'm not sure but you should try using Ranco temp controller. It's more accurate in controlling the temp. From what I understand, it's more high quality than Inkbird.
