In an innovative marine 15 gallon would it be duable to upgrade the stock pump to a 400 gph controllable pump and then just having a random flow generator on my return nozzle? I’m just worried about if this will get out all the waste and provide enough oxygen exchange at the surface

I had 2 IM fusion 15 all in one tanks - the cube ones - I added a more powerful return pump and it emptied out the back chamber. (you need to keep water in the back chamber for filtration, heater, etc) I think if you made the weir bigger it would work, but as is it's designed to accomodate a specific pump size. To get more flow I added the smallest jaebao wavemaker

Yeah that makes sense, what wavemaker did you use? I currently have the SLW-5 but i’m not sure if that’s too much.

smallest one (CWP-5000) is out of stock - the next one up was too powerful and turned my tank into a washing machine. This one would probably work:freesea wave maker

I have the freesea on a 20 gallon long and it is really really powerful - I had to point it off to one side but it is working out

I run a sicci 0.05 and it's perfect, along with a jebao ow10 on my 15.
My 15 at 5 months.

So you use the sicci 0.05 for your pump and then your jebao for flow? Do you turn off the jebao at night or anything?

Correct on the sicci. The jebao is run at level 1 on C mode. I set it so it goes on for 15 sec then off for 15. It can be set for 2 sec on/off or up to 1 min off.

Just another idea for you. That tank is so small, and these little pumps so cheap ($9.00), you could get one of these and just point it to break the surface and oxygenate your tank that way if it helps.

Where can I get one? I have been looking for an ultra small pump for a micro reef I have been thinking about doing.

That's exactly how we run our IM 15-gallon tank, here at the office.

I installed a Mightlyjet 538 (so a little larger than 400 GPH) and run it at about 50% speed. It drives a single 1/2in RFG nozzle with a 19mm Slip-Fit-Drop adapter.
