Input on Refuge above tank on shelf?

So I’m thinking to do a sump tank offset to my 20 gal established tank I think if I put a black cover in the tank for pump and heater have it go into sump into refuge with the drilled hole in 10 gal tank over flow back through pipe into display? If that makes any sense I do t want to do u tube siphon last thing I need is to have the siphon break and come home to the mess and I don’t want to drill into my tank with water being I never done it before and maybe if I can make it pretty cool looking I won’t mind it in the living room

I put a shelf above a fluval flex 9g and put an algae turf scrubber above it that emptied back down

10 gallon nano softie tank?

So have a spot for a tank. . . needs to be filled. was thinking about trying an AIO 10 gallon soft coral tank? Trying to keep it pretty basic/low maintenance. This is sort of what I wanted to do with my evo 5 gallon, however, that has quickly become complicated with a refugium and water bridge...

yes this is a good way to do it with the sump draining into the display tank
if your room /cabinetry fits

I have a similar plan to do an over Fuge on my coming build. It will have a traditional sump as well, but the fuge will be on its own overhead with a return directly to the display. A separate return pump will feed water from the sump to the fuge. The idea is to deliver pods directly from the fuge with going through a pump. At this point I'm think I will use a a DC pump so I can surge the flow once or twice a day to flush some pods down.
