Installing Reefmat 500 on Eshopps MP100

I have a reefmat 500 coming for my Eshopps Mariner mp100 and was wondering if anyone has any insight on how to plan to plumb it in? Do I have to cut the overflow pipe and install the union above the sump, or is there a way that someone else sees that can keep everything in the sump?

@ESHOPPS.INC any opinions?

Good luck. I just tried to install my 500 in my MP100 and it does not fit. I'm not sure if it could even be hard plumbed because it's so tight.

Fortunately I had a klir di7 in the basement and made an adapter out of hdpe

Well that’s a bummer. Hopefully I can return it and didn’t just throw away $400.

Maybe I'm not creative enough but I don't see any way to connect it without modifying the sump. Maybe eshopps has an idea. I just checked and the specs say roller mat ready but doesn't say reefmat ready. Technically I guess it may be roller mat ready but I'd be interested in knowing exactly which roller it's ready for.

Yeah, I figured this is the most popular and available one on the market and I can get replacement rolls at any lfs, that it would be one it’s compatible with.

Does the reefmat flexible hose fit in the tight section where the over flow pipe comes down?

It will not. I can barely fit it in the section with the sock holder removed. It fits but the two options to connect the input hose are to close to sump to allow a hose to be connected.

Well that sucks. It will be here tomorrow, I will play with it and see if I can get it to work and if I can I will let you know what I did.

Please do. I really wanted to run the reefmat. The klir is ok but I like the reefmat better and have extra fleece. I actually had the klir listed for sale but now I'm glad no one bought it. I won't run felt socks and doubt I could find any mesh socks to fit. Not sure why eshopps decided to use rectangle shaped socks.

I don’t want to get the reefmat wet if it won’t work, but one of the guys at Eshopps said I could run an elbow on the overflow pipe right after it enters the sump and then into the reefmat like that. Does that look like it would work, or are you finding the reefmat itself just doesn’t fit in the filter sock section?

I got my brother a M70 system. And look and tired to get a 250 to fit the eshoppes sump. I’m not waiting on a custom sump i designed and had one of my local LFS’s reach out to a guys that builds anything acrylic. I know now the same models, but only so much can be done with some things before something new has to be built.

The reefmat itself will barely fit but there's no room to connect the plumbing that I can see. The klir works because it isn't plumbed and water just runs into the top like it would with a sock.

I won’t even mess with it then, I will see if I can swap it out for the klir.

To use the klir i had to diy an adapter to replace the sock holder but it wasn't too difficulty. I bought a sheet of white hdpe from Amazon to use. The hdpe was very easy to work with using a course blade in my jig saw and normal twist drill for a hole to get the saw started. I'll get a picture of it when I'm at the tank to show you what I came up with.

I really think if @ESHOPPS.INC is going to advertise the sump as fleece roller ready they should provide a list of rollers that are compatible.

Have you checked out the nature dimensions one? They make adapter plates for the square socks and list it fitting the mariner tank. You would have to buy the main and aux rollers, but might be worth checking out?

I have not looked at those for this tank. I had the klir laying in the basement already.
I did look into one of the ND rollers for my AIO but decided to go no mechanical filtration instead. The company was very responsive when I had questions. I've not read anything negative about their products.

I may go this route. I like the idea of not messing with the plumbing and easy removal of the whole unit. Thanks!
