I have a question...

I have a bucket of Instant Ocean Reef Crystals. I know this is a "fortified" blend. My intention at this time, is to have a mostly soft coral tank with lots of fish (180 G gives me a lot of room for diversity). Also, a 55G fish only tank.

So my question is, should I continue buying the IORC, or buy the basic IO (purple box) salt?

Same price on amazon
Reef crystals is what I use

The purple box is actually $6 cheaper (200G size box), but that is not the issue. I am more concerned with the chemistry of the different mixes. My understanding is the RC blend is better for LPS and SPS corals. Since my plan as of now is geared more towards fish and softies, should I be using the fortified RC blend?

Also, should I decide at a later date to move on to LPS and SPS, would there be an issue with changing to the RC mix if I run the purple box until then?

Stick with the cheaper option. Nothing wrong with switching to a different type down the road if you want
