Hello this will be my first time dosing interceptor and I am nervous. I have about 100 diffrent acro frags currently. This will just be precautionary as I do not have another system for quarantine. I have dipped everything coming in that did not come from a very reputable source.

My question is who has used the soft chew version with praziqul in it. It was the only version I could source online without going to a vet.

I am nervous because I have a ton of bristle worms in my tank. I mean thousands. I am worried the die off may cause some sort of spike in nutrients or ammonia. I plan to dose 1 pill for a roughly 300 gallon water volume.

Please let me know your experience .

One large 23mg pill treats 275g of water volume at 1x dose. Many hardcore SPS folks seems to do 4x or more nowadays. You’ll definitely get some die off of worms and copepods so make sure you have a rollermat or are changing out your filter sock consistently during treatment.

If you want to go with the low 1.0x dose you should consider dissolving in ethyl alcohol. That apparently allows the interceptor to be more effective (I believe I heard this on a podcast Than from Tidal Gardens was on but I may be mixing up the guests).

I also only have access to the milbemycin + Prazi version. My last treatment was 4.4x dose once a week for 5 weeks. I didn’t have any unexpected issues. I had a small case of Dino’s at the end but I got rid of them in 3 days with limited effort.

You should also find a way to grind up the pill effectively. I use a small metal mortar & pestle from Amazon.

Be sure to dose at night since the UV from your lights degrades the active ingredient. My fighting conch start to recover after 16 hours or so at my 4.4x dose. Next time I treat I plan to move my conch to my QT tank.

We spoke over DM previously but I really would advise against using the chewable (prazi) version with that many acro's - but sling has done it.... I just wouldn't risk it myself. But 1x/300g is a light dose and likely won't do much against white/black bugs (if you have them). However, that should do the trick for red bugs.

If you want a dip with interceptor to prevent them from coming in, dm me and I'll send you a source to reach out to (small amounts, but works).

If you have an active infestation you just need to capture pictures of the issues and talk to a vet, I can refer one if you have active issues. Last we spoke, you didn't.

Here's my experience with it: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-experience-with-high-dose-interceptor.1114191/

good luck and post your results!

I would love to use the version without Prazi but the pure milbemycine version is much harder for hobbyists to get.

I guess I was lucky? There's a local fish vet near here I contacted. $75 house visit, an email with pictures and resources (forum links) and he Rx'd me as much as was advised on these forums! Now, the meds were pricey, I paid near $6-700 for the amount I needed for the 6 weeks, but it was delivered right to my door. I tried going down the 'i have a dog route' without having a dog and that ended quickly in failure lol.
