Hi! I am new to the forum and new to the hobby. The husband and I decided to dive in head first a buy a tank a few weeks ago.

We are on day 11 of our initial cycle and have become much more educated in these past 11 days than we expected.

Well we bought a bio cube 29 and filled it up with some live sand, live rock (with 30% dry rock) and RO water from the LFS.

Instead of the bioballs, I have 2 big filter sponges, a filter sock with sea chem matrix and a purigen in front of the return pump. Upgraded the return pump to a mj1200(cycles 295 gallons per hour) still have the basic florescent lights on the biocube - will upgrade eventually.

It is day 11 and we are at:

Ammonia .25 ish and it has yet to go beyond .50
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
