Welcome to R2R!!! I understand how frustrating algae can be! I encourage you to spend the money on a good water testing system and use it. Also make sure that you're tank is fully cycled and then use some sort of quarantine tank (QT) or process when adding anything to the tank such as fish, corals, rock, or anything else. We're glad you've decided to jump in and become part of this really neat community!
Yeah I definitely learned my lesson about the QT tank thing. I bought fish thinking it was fine and had an ich/velvet break out. Clown and dragonette are the only survivors and will be taken out for a fallow period once the QT is ready to go. I’m sure I’ll be buying a copious amount of pods to keep my Mandy fat while trying to train on prepared food.
