Ive had this tank for almost a year now and until about 2 weeks ago this guy never moved and ive constantly been having issues with this guy always closing up, shrinking, not bubbling and tucking into a rock
I have no idea what im doing wrong as all my other coral seem to be thriving as youll see in the photos
2 ai blades probably around 250 par at surface around 115 on the bottom id say like 14k spectrum ish
Calc is low atm (380) but he never seems to care even when its good. The rest of the minerals im honestly not sure usually mag is close to my calc so im sure like 1200 range
He has low indirect flow where hes at now
My livestock is all peaceful to him
Ammonia 0
Ph 8.2-8.4
Alk 9 ish
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0 (been having issues with no nitrate lately i thought it was my red sea kit but i bought another kit and confirmed low to no nitrates so im feeding heavy as of this past week i have a feelings algea is gonna decide to just take over instead
Is there any other reason this guy is doing this for so long??? Hes always hated the tank what am i doing wrong

What is your phosphate? Also you should look into dosing nitrates you are starving the anemone at 0. If he always hated your tank I'm guessing you have many fluctuations of parameters.

Im about to look into dosing nitrates at this point. Should i turn off my protein skimmer to help with nitrates or turn it down? My phosphates are around .2 every time i test them its about that unless i do a water change its always been within acceptable limits from what ive tested

Turning it off/feeding more can help. I had this same situation and the only thing that fixed it was dosing nitrates but after a few months I hardly have to dose them anymore.

personally, I would run the skimmer dry if you aren’t doing so already. What might help others with suggestions, is to share maintenance routine & frequency. Husbandry practices, live stock, light cycle, intensity & spectrum. Filtration system & components.
