I have had the colony for over a month... the person I bought them from had them for over six months directly under a 250w halide. No worries about morphing with these beauties! :)

My frag did eventually change color to mostly red/orange under around 100 par of t5's. How did the other frags keep their color? Any info on lights and par?

I have found that many acans gradually change color over around an 18 month period in captivity.

In my opinion, acans are always going to change their color, there isnt much people can to do stop it from happening.

I had great luck with mine keeping its colors for several months. Sadly I lost my piece last November in a tank blowout, but up until then it was one of my favorite acans in the collection. I had mine in a 12" deep frag tank, partially shaded under 3 Blue+ and 1 Fiji Purple. Most of the day only 1 blue+ and 1 Fiji Purple were running, with the morning and evening lit by the 2 blue+. I've had pretty good luck getting my acans to hold their colors and look great under these lights. Many are shaded as well under a frag rack even under this low lighting.

Hey Austin we are talking about rainbow that morph to red or orange acan. I have quite a few rainbow that has held it colors for years under all kinds of light.

My acans have show their best color under:

1.Any combo with a purple or pink bulb
2.120w Reef Evolution LED pendant

Not sure why though....

It is a shame that this one is so difficult to keep rainbow.
