Get a powerful grow light on Amazon and build a refugium in your sump. Nitrates were an issue in the 90s, you won't have to worry about them anymore if you do this. You can grow chaeto or get plastic sheets with holes in them and grow whatever algae is in your tank on those. Works just as well either way. I have large fish that are fed 13 times a day and my nitrates are less than 1.
