Hello! An admin encouraged me to introduce myself. I'm an aspiring reef tank owner. No equipment on hand yet - I'm only researching right now. Years ago I had a 55g FOWLR tank with a few softies in it, but mostly it had bubble algae and cyanobacteria. I became frustrated with the experience and finally got rid of it when I saw my (then) 15 month old pull himself up on the tank and it wobbled. Well my 15 month old is now 12 and he could probably help with a lot of the work so I'm thinking about diving back in. Looking forward to absorbing info and looking at your setups. Thanks!

Welcome! Glad you joined. Its a great family hobby so keep us posted! Yes, it can have its ups and downs, but that is also good for our kids to see how we handle it and teach life skills. Returning you will demonstrate your BBA - Bounce Back Ability! Take you time and happy planning. I watched Craigslist and local club site for used equipment and was able to get whole setup so that might be something that would work for your family, too
