I’m a big believer in QT. I need more crabs and snails in my DT. If I buy a bunch of inverts and a black molly freshwater fish (I think that’s the correct fish) would that shorten QT any? If the molly stays healthy for a couple weeks would that be a good indicator that the inverts were disease free or would I really not know for sure?

Regardless, sounds a bit cruel to use another living creature as your "canary in a coal mine". If you are a big believer in QT, just QT your inverts then add them to the DT.

If the molly is in freshwater, there is no reason to qt it for disease reasons.

For the inverts, I'd go a full 6 weeks or more...unless they came from a vendor that doesn't have fish.

I wasn’t QTing the molly, I was going to use it to check for ich on the inverts. It won’t work work for that though, it’s the toments that hatch I have to worry about.

I understand. And it may work for that. I would still let the inverts sit for a few weeks.
