Hey everyone,

I'm trying to reason through an CUC quarantine timeline since I have a new tank going through algae issues with coral in it (tank reboot). I found a reputable seller that operates a fishless invert system. He also has corals in a different system, but again no fish. If that's the case, is it fair to assume the risk of ich or velvet is minimal? Because without fish, ich and velvet couldn't survive. Unless the seller has introduced stock from external sources which may be carrying cysts, I'd say the risk is fairly low. Would love people's thoughts.

Thanks!

The only QT you can truly trust is your own. Even if the seller is "fishless" only time will tell. And it's not just parasites like Ich, velvet, brook, uronema to be concerned with. All kinds of other things can come in with CUCs, like planaria, parasitic isopods, etc. Waiting for 76 days is worth it for me. Of course, you mileage could vary.
