I swear I saw someone list how many grams is needed of IO to mix 5 gallons up at 35ppt.
Anyone have that weight? I think it was 800-something.

1,952.5 g per 5 gallons?! Seems a bit muchyears ago it took 41.3 g/L of normal IO to attain 35 ppt, but the result will be different if moisture levels in it are different.
That's 781 g/2 gallons.
Using that calculator its 803.38g for 5 gallons. That seems about right from what ive seen
Ive been doing that as a rough guess but I ALWAYS have to add in more than 2.5 cups for 5 gallons and keep creeping up on 35ppt. It would be nice to just measure it out and not have to adjust 2-3 times after the initial batch.I use 1/2 cup per gallon for reef crystals.

How much salt to make 35ppt
Anyone know how much reef crystals I would need to make 4 gallons of 35ppt? I think it is about 1.2 pounds but not sure of exact measurement. Thanks!www.reef2reef.com
I only get single 50 gallon bags of IO at a time and I dump the bag into a 5 gallon bucket with a snap top.The salt can often gets heavier once you open the bag. I would use volume over weight. ...ask me how I know?
I would dry mix that salt, too. Unless I use the whole bag of IO, I can get inconsistent results when using a partial bag or small portion.
