I accidentally grabbed the wrong bottle and dumped in 10ml/2capfuls of iodide. The maximum dose for my aquarium is 2ml so I dumped in 5x the dose. Should I be concerned? I shut off my overflow which is where I dumped it after putting the cap on the bottle to find that it was iodide. I have a fresh batch of saltwater mixing rn to hopefully pull out the majority of the water with the iodide concentrate in which is presumably in my sump currently.

I’m curious what the repercussions will be for a 5x dose of iodide if anybody is willing to chime in.

Thank you Randy! It does say it’s a non toxic form of Iodine. If it were Iodine it would likely be more of an issue right?

Well, I2 is more complicated and it’s not my preferred thing to dose for several reasons such as it changing the form of some other trace elements, but I do not know if it becomes toxic at the dose you mention.

I’ve read it can cause a cyano bloom but not too sure how true that is… haven’t heard of anything else being negative from a od…

I’ve not heard that and don’t see a rationale for think it true.
