it seems safe as long as it does not directly come in contact with the corals/nems you DON'T want to kill:

I've used it numerous times without issue, as long as it doesn't make direct contact, as mentioned above. It's essentially a concentrated dose of kalkwasser, which is often used in a doser to maintain alkalinity and calcium for reef aquariums.
