Are you meaning what is typically termed a scrubber? If so, the ones by Santa Monica look really nice. Lots of different models to choose from, too. 😉

$400 will by alot of snails.
If the $400 unit even works. I can't believe that thing will do well enough that a person won't have to go back and do all the corners and touch up spots it missed.
I don't enjoy cleaning glass but TBH I can scrape the front and ends of my 7ft tank in 5 minutes so keeping glass clean isn't really a time consuming chore. I couldn't care less about cleaning the back.

I would not use such a robotic device. Far too much chance to run amok by hitting things, plowing off snails that get stuck upside down, etc.

I agree. There's just too many possibilities for it to fail or cause damage.

But it's so cool lol. I swear I remember someone working on one that had a camera attached so a person could view the tank while it was traveling around cleaning.
I get the desire for one of these things TBH. Even tho it only takes me a few minutes per tank cleaning glass is still my least favorite maintenance chore.

Im not very gadget oriented. Im more of a hands on person. But I do understand the desire.

like other posters, I don't really get the cleaning aspect, but I do love the idea of a camera in the tank where I can watch my fish from work.

For a while I had a camera set up on my bench that watched my tank (I was interested to see whether there was aggressive behaviour when I wasn't watching - there wasn't), and I really liked that. But IN the tank is even better.

Actually, I was referring to something like this. https://www.moaidevices.com/product/moai
Nothing new under the sun? Here's an old video from an earlier version of this idea. I didn't watch the video, but I do remember that ROBOsnail didn't live up to the expectations?

I would recommend an aquarium cleaning service based upon history, but I have no experience with any of these things. GL! 😇
