Is anyone using the Ecotech Diffuser on their Radions over an SPS tank?

I just ordered 1 to see how I like it (I have 6 XR15's). I was just wondering if anyone with a full blown SPS tank has started using these, and what are the results so far?

I have a few friends using them. All seem to love em for the better spread. There is a dip in particular, but negligible. I think you'll be happy with the results

What problems are you trying to solve? The do fix some, but cause others and do not address some thing.

Not really trying to solve a problem, just trying to avoid any. I have a hybrid fixture LED and T5, and I'd like to reduce the hot spots which it appears that these would do. Also wanted to get the opinions of people who have actually used them to see what they think before i buy 5 more of them. I will have the one I ordered on Tuesday so I'll do some PAR mapping on one of my XR15's then.

I have diffusers on my two XR30 Pro's over a Reefer XL 425. This is a new tank only started 4 months ago, but I've used the diffusers since day one. I'm seeing good growth on my SPS:

I have a PAR meter and measured about a 10% reduction in PAR due to the diffusers, but still plenty of light for SPS.

Hey sun what lighting schedule are you using and at what intensity

(I assume this question was directed at me)
My lights ramp up over a 1 hour period, then stay at 80% for 7 hours, then ramp down to 20% for several hours for evening viewing time before going dark for the night. During the 80% peak, here are the channels:

  • R: 0
  • G: 0
  • B: 100
  • RB: 100
  • UV: 100
  • CW: 25
  • WW: 25
  • V: 100

It’s saved my eyes, not so blinding. Using one on a XR30 Pro over a Red Sea Reefer 170 . I’m using the Radion arm which is 8 inches over tank. All SPS are glued to a Vida Rock branch. All coral holding color and showing growth. I am running the light at a lower intensity, in the 30s range, The Homewrecker shown was accidentally broken off, it was only the very tip. Two months later

It's at 350 PAR. The lights are 9" above the water surface, and the frag is 5" below the surface, so about 14" from the lights.

Nice l!! thank you, I been running mine close to your settings less green/red more white toping at 70% 10” of the water line, don’t own a par meter I think that’s LEDs issue the controllability it allows without a par meter can be our downfall since most of us don’t own a par meter I was thinking on getting the diffuser this info will help me a lot thanks

To clarify, since I have a hybrid fixture, I'm hoping that the diffusers will reduce the hot spots under my 6 Radion pucks, and smooth out the PAR values across the board to blend with the T-5's. It sounds like this will work. I'll know more after I get the one I ordered on Tuesday. Once it's installed I can use my PAR meter to check the differences between one with the diffuser and one without the diffuser. I'm happy to see that people are having success and seem to be impressed with the product!

Same experience for me on my XR15s.
