Is Bird’s Nest bleaching ?

Hey there - Receieved my bird’s nest coral one week ago. This and other SPS finished acclimating to light after 5 days and I put them higher in tank due to brownish color. Now, others seems fine but bird’s nest seems whiter than others. Should I lower in tank?

Give him a week at least to adjust, he may be getti g his color back.

With sps of any type stability is required .
Do any of your parameters fluctuate daily ?

I’d increase salinity to 1.026

I’ve been pushing phosphates down from nearly 1.800 to .05 now with Phosphate X. No other fluctuations in months. Test weekly.

This should be temporary and likely due to change in light. Other things to assure:
Temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.025
nitrate < .10
phos < .04 - .06
Ammonia < .03
mG 1300-1350
Alk 8-11
CA 400- 440

Providing an update here. Birds Nest looks like a goner with algae growth. One acro total bleach and the other partial bleach. No sign of polyps.

Just installed auto doser to maintain Alk at 10dkh and 450 calcium, as those were the biggest swings when I first bought these frags. All testing checks out and I dropped my phosphates to solid levels over the past 3 weeks with PhosphateRX.

Looks like a dead skeleton form tissue necrosis, not bleaching. With beaching, you still see the polyps. Bleaching is actually seemingly rare in the hobby. Birds nest are also one of the most difficult (but fast growing) SPS corals.

So birds nest is for sure a goner... any tips on what to do for two acros? Hold tight and hope they come back with stability?

I've seen corals come back from the dead. Unless you think they have pests or disease, I would leave them alone.

I noticed that you have raised your Alk to 9.6 dKh. While that isn't necessarily high, it does make it a little more tricky than NSW Alk. Maybe let it stabilize closer to 7.8-8.2 dKh.

I upgraded the tank size about 2 years ago, but the live rock has all been alive and supporting the smaller tank for maybe 4 years.

Another thing I noticed, you have aptasia in the reef. The sooner you get these pest under control the better off your long term success will be.

On it! I put 4 berghia nudibranches in about a month ago. I know they'll take time, but the ApstasiaX seems worthless. Unsure if I want to commit to a filefish just yet.

Between manually removing what you can . Covering with kalk paste or which ever other route you choose .
waiting for the nudibranch is the only for sure predator .

ime … kalk paste is easiest for the ones you can reach and see
