Is it trash? No cracks just the chip.

This spot looked a little strange and to my surprise a small bump popped this piece right out. I’ve read conflicting information online but want some opinions. Is the tank trash now?

My bar for sketchy tanks is pretty high, but I don't know, that doesn't look good to me at all, I'm sorry to say. Maybe others will have a more positive outlook, but it's a terrible day if/when a marine tank gives out on you. It doesn't just affect the tank inhabitants, it's gallons and gallons of saltwater on your floors and the damage to your home can be quite significant. Again, maybe others will have some better news for you, but I probably wouldn't risk running this tank.

I didn't want to spend any money so i made it out of left overs. Its really nice and light so it's easy to move

Honestly, with the diagonal braces, I think that's more than adequate. My bar for sketchy stands is pretty high too

Not that I'm implying that your stand here is "sketchy" I'm just saying, look at the flimsy stuff sold at pet stores and compare that to the often overbuilt stands that hobbyists come up with, using 4x4's and half inch lag screws

While none of us have a crystal ball, I’m not getting a warm fuzzy feeling from that image. It could be fine, could fail immediately, or could fail later. I don’t like to tempt fate and take chances personally. If you want a pro’s opinion, there are a few tank makers on here that may have a better idea. @Joe Glass Cages is one.

I've used some pretty questionable tanks...

For instance, I did not use this tank:

Actually, I did use that tank before I dropped it. I probably used it for 10 years or so and it had a big chip on on edge. I've got another 135 that was in a fire and had chips and I used it for a few years and I'm currently running a 110 extra high freshwater planted tank with a chip in each edge.

HOWEVER, that chip, as big as it is and as low as it is, I would not trust that. Especially considering I can see a crack still there which means it's just waiting for a failure.

The good news is, if you zoom in, you can see that my tank was using his hard hat.

That chip is pretty deep, I would not use it. Relatively speaking the tank itself is one of the cheaper parts of a build, I would just replace the tank so I could sleep soundly at night.
