Is my Alk stable enough?

I’m dosing 2400ml evenly per day of kalk. Is my alk stable enough? Or how can I make it more stable?

That’s a lot of washboard motion that doesn’t suggest stability to me.

I have a calcium reactor and I don’t measure continuously but I don’t detect these wide numbers that you are showing.

What is this 3 tests a day? And its a continuous kalk drip?

Not sure of the time of the tests but it looks to be like possibly during lighting hours it is being consumed and then at night its rising

4 tests a day (12am, 6am, 12pm, 6pm) & yes, continuous drip. I've just been measuring the difference between 1 test every 24 hrs because I think the Trident has too much variability.

So if you look at every result at noon time, I'm getting - 9.13 - 9.18 - 9.09 - 9.21 - 9.36 - 9.15
Which I think is pretty stable? Maybe the Trident is just adding confusion with all the testing done within a day. (4 tests)

I've never understood why people test more than once a day. In the past I have tested once per day in order to stabilize things, then once per week keeping SPS.umless I had a visual cue to check more often.

I will say that I have always biased my doing towards lit hours, more during the day, and less during the night. With the understanding that their is greater consumption during daylight hours.

A high consuming stocked tank can easily consume about 2dkh a day. My tank sucks up about .5 dkh an hour during peak times

Absolutely. My last sps tank wasn't pulling quite that much, but I was to the point where I was considering buying stock in Arm & Hammer Baking Soda's parent company.

Wow thats insane! Idk how much my tank would take within a day or hr but i dose 2400ml of saturated kalk on a 139g. So I think my consumption is pretty healthy, especially with the tank being under a year old and no colonies yet.

You will eventually out grow the ability of kalk to make up your alk and will want to either add 2 part or a calcium reactor. Both can be used in conjunction with the kalk.

I mean, I know they have created a cash machine now that they can sell you consumables, but that seems a bit gratuitous!

But there is tutorials out there to code the trident so that it will test less in the day. I think the loophole is to code it so that the trident turns off at certain test times and only on when you want it to test :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I dont mind the default and am ok with spending 20$ every 2 month with ABC reagent so i just leave it as is.

Sheesh!

I know $10 a month doesn't seem like much, but this hobby can creep up on the monthly costs if you don't watch it. $10 here and $5 there and before you know it it's $200 just in consumables.

This is a way to adjust the NP... I suspect that it would work on the ACM.
