Hi all,

I haven't found any post about it and a few days ago I tried to customize the days when my Trident NP would sample.

Just like the normal Trident the Trident NP can be customized to test the water on a custom basis. I find it very convenient if the NO3/PO4 value is already stable because the 60 tests at 1 test per day will last 2 months but reducing to 2 or 3 tests per week will bring us to 30 weeks of testing or 20 weeks of testing or more (7.5 months or 5 months) respectively.

So here are the steps I followed:

1- Access Trident NP from your local network with your computer, using the IP from your APEX, in my case http://192.168.10.198 (your IP Address its listed on the Apex Android/Iphone App under Network Setup)

2- Go to the Modules Menu and Identify your Trident NP Module number, in my case 5.

3- Visit the URL composed from your APEX IP and the module number in that way: http://<your_ip_here>/apex/config/outputs/<module_number>_3

In my case its: http://192.168.10.198/apex/config/outputs/5_3

4- Set your desired schedule as in the upper capture with the Apex timers structure, in my case its testing at 6:00 in the morning only on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can also activate the log, but this is up to you.

Code:
Set OFF
If Time 06:00 to 06:01 Then ON
If DoW S-T-T-S Then OFF

I hope it will be of help to you!

Happy weekend!

The default of 50N and 0P is the standard calibration solution according to the instructions.

Do you get a "no test in 24hr" error when using this approach? I wonder if there's a way to exclude that from the error alerts.

Me too.

It annoyed the hell out of me with Zero Test Error.

Also... Another question, since NP reagent are so corrosive... wouldn't skipping the Testing too long cause issue?

I mean... if it running constantly it would have water to clean out the hose... but if it's not working for too long, wouldn't those liquid ruin anything?

Yes. just found that out...

But it seemed original ranges is far too high or something.

The reading is so unstable.

Up since I was running... my Phosphate constantly read 0.

Out of the 4 months I've been running... there is only 1 day, that it read 0.09 which is YESTERDAY!!!

Yes, I get it, but I just ignore it. When it tests again, the issue is gone and then comes back.

The only relevant question is whether it remains stable and measures accurately.

In my case, I had issues due to my kalkwasser dosing interfering during the NP test. After stopping the dosing, it has worked just fine—even with 3-month-old reagents.

I had issues with my kalkwasser dosing interfering with the NP test. Just stop any dosing or flow pumps in the sump chamber where the intake for the measuring line is located about 1.5 to 2 hours before the test runs.

Also, calibrate using your Hanna checker, as Neptune recommends, and see if it improves.
In my case, that fixed it. If it doesn't help, open a support case with Neptune.

Neptune Trident NP calibration procedure:

" From: (Neptune Systems Support)

Hi,

Let's have you try another target calibration following our recommended procedure to see if that gets the numbers closer to what you're expecting. With the latest update out we've seen a major success for most. Based off your observations we don't suspect any hardware issues with the Trident NP.

Prerequisites:
  • Update your system to AOS 5.12_2B25 or the latest AOS.
  • Update the NP to software version 49 or newer to enable targeted calibration.
  • Verify the 3rd party test kit reagents have not expired that will be used for this calibration process.
  • Your sample water must have NO3 between 50 to 5 ppm and PO4 between 1.00 to 0.00 ppm
  • If you do not have sample water within the specified range we suggest asking a friend or LFS for 500 mL of tank water to use with your 3rd party kits or using NO3/PO4 additives/buffers to raise/lower the sample water.

Calibration Process:
  • Collect 500mL (two cups) of your tank water in a clean container. To ensure the best results, test this sample water 3–4 times using your third-party (Suggested is Hanna) test kit to determine the average values for Nitrate (NO3) and Phosphate (PO4).
  • Place the NP sample line into the container of tank water you just tested.
  • Navigate to the Trident Configuration page and start the NP calibration process.
  • Slide the toggle switch for Calibrate to perform the calibration process.
  • Enter the averaged NO3 & PO4 values from your manual tests in step #2 into the fields that appear, and select the Update Apex (orange cloud button) to begin the calibration process.
  • The calibration will take about 90 min. We recommend setting a timer to help remind you when this step is done.
  • Once calibration is finished, return the sample line to your sump and wait for the next scheduled test.

**** Note: please do not run back to back tests, please be patient and allow for the NP to run 2–3 automatic tests before reaching back out with a concern that you feel the NP is not holding or calibrated correctly. ****

I'm not sure, but I think you're mistaken. This how-to is only for the Trident NP and not for the regular Trident. For the regular Trident, you need to make the change in two different URLs, one (_3) does just KH and the other does KH, CA,MG (_4), its the same but you have to change the last part from the URL:
