My BTA has been very happy for the past 4 months. Today, when I got home from work, I noticed it is completely retracted into its cavern and its mouth is open. I have a second BTA that seems to have split overnight, but both clones are open and happy. I find it odd that both anemones have reacted within 24 hours (one split and one retracted). I know some will split when fearing death, hoping to live on. My parameters are all fine though, so I’m not too sure what to think.

All of the other corals (mostly LPS and softies) are happy and open.

Hopefully I’m just overreacting! My main concern is how open its mouth is- haven’t seen it like this before

Your nitrates are low. Anemones like higher nitrates as they are a food source. I don't normally feed my anemones, but have been feeding select ones every other day for the past month. Surprisingly, I have seen no increased growth due the feedings.
Phosphates are critical for almost all life to live. Based in your nitrates, I would not be surprised if they are too low as well. Another critical parameter is your alkaliniy. Anemones do not like low alkalinity or swings.
I suggest you get test kits for Alk and Po4 asap.

I have the Hanna reef test kit (Calc, DkH and Phosphate) on its way! Hopefully should arrive within the next 2 days, but hard to tell with the holidays.
