Is my Goni plan good?

So recently I just ordered a Goni, and this would be the first one I ever kept, so I was wondering if someone could give me any helpful tips. I plan on dosing my tank with a small amount of phyto twice a week, and once the gonis are feeding, shoot a little pods into the mouths for them to eat. I think I have a plan on where to put them in the tank, I will move them if the flow is too strong or weak or not randomized. I run a Red Sea ReefLED50 at 100% blues for 8 hours and 50% whites for 6 hours. Anything seem off? Are there any potential predators of gonis specifically?

I haven't fed my goni's in years, but if you do feed them, I would place food on the corals tentacles so they can feed themselves, you shouldn't shoot food into its mouth IMO. Otherwise it sounds like a fine plan, good luck

What would you suggest for me to feed them with? I just want to feed them to start with just in case they need it because I have heard that some types of gonis need to be fed

Reef roids if you have them for spot feeding? Otherwise they will grab what is in the water column (pods/phyto/etc).

phyto is a good idea. I food my corals reef roids usually twice a month.

I don’t feed my gonis, but they do grow slowly. Every time I use reef roids it jacks up my phosphates. I just feed rods reef or LRS nano and there are tiny food particles that pretty much everything gets.

Benereef is a powder that you mix into tank water and spot feed/broadcast to tank right? Same idea, it'll do the same thing as reef roids.

As others have mentioned, foods like this do increase phosphates...so use them sparingly and do not go crazy with them.

Benepets or BRS Reef Chili is a better option. Reef Roids raises phosphate. I can't say for certain but phyto is probably too small for a goni. Try dosing some manganese also.

Yeah, I had my phosphates go up to 2 for a long time. I don’t want to go through that again. It was mostly my Rodi was leeching phosphates and who knows what, but I was also feeding a lot and using pellets. Well I have been able to manage them to a level of .18 ppm

Some will still view this as high. If your corals are happy, I'm not going to yuck what is working for you.

Do you have a skimmer? Maybe I should just give your tank thread a look over and see what you're working with

33 gal nano kinda hard to get a skimmer into. I have found that when I actually have one on mine, it does help with phosphates. The fuge I have in the back of my SR60 also helps out, but again hard in your footprint.

Have you thought of macros to help with nutrient export, specifically phosphate control? Otherwise regimented water changes and careful feeding are your best bets.

Awesome, assuming that thing is pulling out some nasty gunk for you. Outside of that, water changes are your friend in trying to pull that number down. Doesn't hurt to run a test on your fresh saltwater too, just to make sure it isn't creeping in from your RODI water again.

All of this, assuming you want to bring phosphate down a bit. Like I said before, if your corals are happy, don't do anything fast :)

I did get some chaeto and threw it in the tank after I washed it. It then started growing in the rock crevices so I do have that. I have been thinking about maybe getting a calcifying macro

When I had goni's i would just put some oyster feast in the water and turn off the flow for 20 mins. I also use benepets in the same way
