Hi Guys,

We purchased this leather last week which looked great in the lfs but upon being in the tank for a week it’s flopped and looks like ****. Is it ok? Any ideas? All the other corals look great.

Parameters:
SG - 1.025
PH - 8
Ammonia - 0
NO2 - 35
NO3 - 0.25
PO4 - 0.13
DKH - 8.6
CA - 551

Thanks in advance.

It’s just being a baby. Leathers pout when disturbed. I had one that did it for weeks. Leave it be or try moving it to an area with good flow and lighting. Should be open in a few days.

Thanks, I’ve been reading they can be babies. It does have great lighting, I’ll give it some more flow and see if it likes that and hopefully it opens.

Maybe it's in the process of shedding? I would maybe try to wipe it down/brush it off and see if that helps as well
+1 it is likely shedding. They do that when upset. It will likely be bigger than when you bought it, as they grow every time they shed.
