Is my new Bubble Coral going to split? I picked up this bubble coral recently and right away noticed this nub on one side. I placed in my tank so I would be able to observe this protrusion. After only a few days, it sure looks like a baby bubble. I will certainly leave it alone and see if it grows larger or maybe separates from the Mama Bubble.

This is called budding. Elegance coral can do this as well. Budding looks different for these types of coral vs acans, favia. For example. Congrats.

What I didn't know was they can drop flesh with bits of skeleton. That is creepy.

If this IS budding, I'm assuming the new bud will have it's own mouth?
