Hi everyone, I last week bought a red starfish and I've come home from work today and it's flesh is coming off, it is still stuck to the glass and it's mouth looks strange also, I'm just worried if it will cause an ammonia spike in my 300 litre tank?! Thanks in advance 1

How old is your tank? Ammonia spike was a bad thing.

Photo would help.

These animals are largely nocturnal, and should be actively searching for food when the lights are dimmed or off on the aquarium. starvation is usually the end result for most people. You need a well established reef, at least a year IMO, with lots of live rock surface area so they can find the necessary amount of microbial/bacterial films and other organisms such as bryozoans, sponges, etc. that they feed upon.

Sounds like an injury. They can completely disintegrate quickly. Watch it closely and be ready to remove.
