It opens up most of time but i though it was suppose to be flat? Im not sure how happy toadstool looks like. My parameters are zero ammonia 5 nitrate. Im trying to keep my nitrate low since my tank is only been for a month and half

I am no expert, but I am pretty sure Sarcophyton toadstool leather corals often are rippled or curled like yours.
Mine is not as rippled and mostly flat. It seems to be doing fine, though the stalk is laying horizontal instead of standing upright, which leaves the head cocked sideways.

A quick Google image search confirms that they can be rippled:

I guess its based on how much wave they get?

Looks healthy and polyps extended. Not supposed to be flat. Think of it like a scalloped mushroom.

How "wavy" they are depends on species and how much space they feel they have around them. This species/genotype/variety in one of my systems has always been very irregular and "wavy" and is always dropping off pieces.

Mine is sometimes flat but then curls up. Here is my monster. Need to get a pic of it by itself. It is a monster. Was much larger--on 2 rocks. I had to do some work to cut it from the bottom rock and re glue it, and the weight was such that it was hard to get it to hold and even to stay balanced and upright until it recovered. One heavy coral! With the new lights and lots of tank tlc, it is coming back nicely. Long wavy tentacles now. One image below it is pretty flat. my clowns host it
