Is my Yellow Tang’s behavior normal?

Every fish adjust differently to it’s surroundings. Have you tried letting the glass accumulate a little more of a film before cleaning.

Add a little food/ algae station; clean one pane of the aquarium.

Wait acouple of days, repeat, cleaning now two panes.

Wait a couple days more. Repeat cleaning all viewing panes.

The goal is to condition the fish that your proximity is not a threat, rather an opportunity for food.

Unless you use an auto feeder hard to do that. Mine now have a point where they see me at a distance and are calm it’s when I’m at the glass of the tank where they come begging. Glass cleaning activities, or testing of parameters they are also used to. But begging for food is a specialty.

Having seen many videos of guys in the wild reefs does not take much for fish to understand food source. I now have an avast auto feeder. Need to finish setting it up haha.

Have to say it’s easier getting fish to know you with food, and used to you without being shy, then start the auto feeder to get them off the idea that your only food.

It’s how I got by bothers basslet black cap to un-shy in about two/two n half weeks. Now it’s swimming around with no worry.

I was a diver . They gave some dopy people zip locks with bread in them. As soon as the fish saw the bags they were all over the divers. Fun and games until about an 80 pound Grouper sucked a guys arm up and thrashed him around the water. His gear going everywhere . Was funny at first until you realized what that must have been like to have no sight and no air . The power of a large fish is amazing

Not mine. They are angry little guys. I’ll get a video one of these days posted. Of the few I have had, not one was shy to come out and eat if there was food around, or when they saw me to hide.

It was there is food, or there will be food with my yellows haha.

No timid fish here either. I'm the food God and they know it. I keep all new additions in observation and will not bring them into the DT untill they swim to the front when they see me. It takes numerous feedings through out the day but I also feed the DT often also which seems to keep fish from acting timid.

This is from a few minutes ago and is how they behave anytime I approach the tank.
