Should I leave the rock in a separate container?hes probably traumatized by all the commotion. you will get him eventually.
yes. eventually you will get him, main thing is to get him out of the display tank. I had one in a 300 gallon and had to tear it 95 percent down to get it out. they can get expensive really quick if you have alot of fish.Should I leave the rock in a separate container?
From readings on here they lose the smashers if they run out of things to smash ans you feed them regularlyLooks like you got yrself a new friend ! Mine comes out when I feed the fish and gets some mysis with everyone , fish will even hit him if he gets too close , they are brave! I think feeding them gets them out of predator mode and less likely to kill things , I’ve found his den and give him offerings of mysis none of my fish have died maybe a couple snails
Lol that’s the queue to feed him , if I hear clicking I know it’s timeFrom readings on here they lose the smashers if they run out of things to smash ans you feed them regularly
He couldn’t have moved to a different rock…right?yes. eventually you will get him, main thing is to get him out of the display tank. I had one in a 300 gallon and had to tear it 95 percent down to get it out. they can get expensive really quick if you have alot of fish.

did your make alot of popping or clicking sounds before if so that might be how to find him.
Could potential not be a smasher type mantis , they do have some thst use a spear to impaleHaven’t heard him at all!! I just happened to switch on the lights and saw him poking his little eyes out!
Since he still hasn’t come out of the rock I can’t ID his type yetCould potential not be a smasher type mantis , they do have some thst use a spear to impale
It’s very small! Probably only about an inch, any bottle is okay?Bait and trap is the best bet to catch him. I have used standard fish trap with a snail inside, You can make one also using a soda bottle but you must be quick to retrieve it.
They eat all shelled inverts (snail, crab, etc) and produce constant clicking sounds.
Bottle trap:
The question is are you 100% sure that you took the correct rock outHe hasn’t left the rock yet;Drowning
Preferably 2 litre but quart size will work if that smallIt’s very small! Probably only about an inch, any bottle is okay?
