Can the experienced aquarist here shed some light on this variation or the species of this trigger?
Please tag anyone who might have some knowledge on it.

Thanks

I don't know a lot about trigger fish but I looked at the website that is shown on the picture (which I'm guessing is the website of the person who started this thread) and they seem to be exporting fish from Sri Lanka. I'd assume this fish is from Sri Lanka which would rule out the queen trigger.

As it's an Indian ocean species and melichthys indicus comes from that area and has identical facial markings, I'd wager it's at least in the family if not a unusual version of it.
I've seen some similar light coloured pintkail triggers from hawaii, so this kind of variation is known about. Hopefully a clued up trigger guy can give you a definitive answer.

Yes, the fish was found in the waters of South Sri Lanka.
