I may be able to get a QT tank at Petsmart today or tomorrow.
I admire that you care for your fish and have purchased a quarantine. It is fine to not use a light on the QT tank for now. Just check Ammonia and Nitrite levels and make sure that the un-cycled tank water doesn't kill it first. The nitrifying bacteria is a good idea, but they also take a few days to establish. It is okay if you want to watch the fish without meds and see if it heals. In my experience, when a fish gets injured bacterial infections are very common. I would order the Furan 2 off of Amazon and have it ready, I have never had luck with reef safe meds like melafix.
