Got this snail for 1$. Didn’t get a good look before I grabbed him. Is he a whelk or some kind of nassarius in not aware of?

You really need to post some pics of the snail from the top down as well as when it is fully extended...this will help with identification.

Can do soon as I get home with it. It’s in a bag with margarita and trochus and I’m not letting it get moving to potentially eat something. I can say it has a trapdoor and a tattooed siphon which are all identifiers of a whelk from what I’ve heard. The shell is also similar to that of a spiral conch not the typical nassarius shell. But I am not familiar with all types of nassarius on nassarius vibex.

The tatooed siphon piece is a concern. I have seen some nassarious with that tattooing, though. They are difficult to tell the difference sometimes!

Photos added. If he’s a whelk he’s getting dumped in my biocube 16 sump. No way outta there and he can’t eat the bristle worms

welk the foot is too small and the shell shape
That’s what I was thinking. I was almost positive but didn’t want to kill him based on a hunch. Will he be ok in my sump in my biocube where he can’t escape or should I flush him just to be safe?
