Greetings and salutations!
I was hoping that some of you would be willing to help me ID my snails.
I added between 6-12 what I purchased as "nassarius" snails to the tank about 6 years ago. It is my understanding that it is uncommon for them to procreate in our systems, but I seem to have many...
Excuse my ignorance as we are really new to the hobby. We have a 65l tank, cycled for a couple of months then added 2 snails and 2 crabs that did well so then added 2 cerith snails, a banded trochus and a scarlet reef crab. 2 days after introducing (alimation process followed) the banded...
Hey all,
I picked up this snail tonight on a night dive (Caribbean) but not sure how I feel about him. Is he reef safe or predatory?
Might have to release him if I can’t figure out
What that heck is on my urchin?? He has been carrying it around for almost a week and it has not moved. Its fluorescent and only appears yellow under blue light.

Hello everyone!
I hope you are doing well.
I am looking to add some anemones to my tank but am weary for the safety of my snails.
Is it safe to keep anemones with snails in the same aquarium? I only keep a couple snails and a sea urchin in a 34 gallon and want to make sure they are all...
Hello everyone!
What are some good snails for nano tanks? Preferably somebody that could survive well in a 10 gallon.
I want to make sure they are hardy and preferably ones that can flip themselves over.
Thank you so much for any advice/recommendations.
I purchased a few more snails for clean up crew on my 25 gallon tank that is roughly a year and a half old. I don’t recognize the growth on its shell, can anyone identify it? Should I be concerned? It almost looks like small spikes sticking out of the top surface of its shell.
Hey everyone
Curious if anyone knows what type of snail this is? The “spikes” on it are soft and retract if touched, and shell is hard. It hitchhiked into my NPS system somehow, I saw it the other day on my scleronephthya (spelling?) christmas tree coral but assumed it was new growth as it...
Strange question.
I have a (small) hair algae problem in a pico tank. Some of the tufts reach about an inch long max, the rest is just a shallow fuzzy layer.
Got a trochus snail to take care of the job, was told by several sources that they eat hair algae.
Well, it definitely did. Maybe too...
Can anyone ID this crab, it was a hitchhiker who came in on the rock of a favia from the LFS.
This is in Australia (which should hopefully narrow it down a bit)
It is quite small, 15-20mm (1/2-3/4 inch) from back to tip of claw ~5mm (1/4 inch) across the body
I have taken it off the Favia and...
Hello, found 2 of these snails on my glass last night when I came down at midnight to check it. They don't have trunks like Nassarius snails and are a orange, tan color I believe. Just want to be sure they are not a pest.
Thank you!
This guy started out on a rock in refugium, when I went to move the rock into my DT, I popped him off and stuck him to the wall in refugium due to me thinking he was a baby snail. He was about a 4th of the size he is now. This thing has not moved an inch in three months now, but it’s still alive...
Not sure if this is a parasite or simply part of the snail’s anatomy that I’ve never noticed, but I just spotted these white hairlike protrusions on an astrea snail. There are a couple different structures I can’t identify - some look like they’re in a semi circle and seem to be ant regular...
Hello everyone!
First of all, so sorry for the immensely crude photos. The Nassarius is moving and was really difficult to get a photo as quickly as possible without causing him any harm.
What are these green marks? Should I be worried about my friend?
Hello everyone!
I run some snail-only tanks that recently got some sneaky bristleworms [discussed here]. I was told that they are all good and will help keep the tank clean, but I am stilled worried about accidentally overpopulating them.
Up until now, I would just put some powdered spirlina in...
Can anyone help identify the snail in these pictures? originally thought it was baby cerith since i do see eggs frequently, but read it is rare for them to reach maturity in home systems, and then came across threads on pyramid and rissoid. Hard for me to determine, but would like to remove...
