I never had any luck keeping candy canes but decided to try a couple since it's been a few years. I have a bright green one that is doing well and has grown quite a few new heads. This one has been pretty much stagnant for about a year. A week or two ago I noticed this one looks like its may be trying to divide. Is this how some of them reproduce? Not sure if the sweepers mean anything. It just started putting them out a few days ago.

Cool. One I can hopefully cross off my can not keep alive list. What would be a good food? I squirted some frozen mysis when the tentacles were out the other day and it didn't look like it kept any. Maybe it needs something smaller like reef roids or benereef?

Interesting that it didn’t take any mysis, it’s always worked for mine 🤔 I would definitely try reef roids in that case then
I think you can thankfully cross it off the can’t keep alive list now, it’s looking good!

They put them out when I broadcast feed BeneReef.

I finely chop frozen mysis and mix with a bit of frozen Calanus plankton and/or Brightwell Reef Blizzard "S" (ReefRoids will be fine) and a couple drops of Phyto Feast Live in a small plastic cup of tank water. I mix it well then use a pipette to create a gentle cloud of food right above the polyps, making sure each polyp gets some. Do this with the flow off during and for 20 minutes after. The polyps should draw into themselves if eating. It's very obvious.
A top-down view should better reveal a new mouth forming. I posted related pics in my tank thread recently:

P.S.: in the April 12, 2026 image you can clearly see three mouths on the left polyp. The two original polyps just sat there for seven months doing nothing, then BOOM! 😀
