Ok guys sorry to have taken so long but I've been alittle under the weather with having knee surgery. Here is the process that I have used to get rid of Dino in 2 different tanks, also my LFS had it in there display tanks and used this process as well with the same results, NO MORE DINO! Never has come back either

Black out for 3 days, I'm mean no light at all, do not feed your fish either, they will be ok.
Day 1: dose Dr. Tim's waste away (recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 2: dose Dr. Tim's waste away (recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 3: dose Dr. Tim's re-fresh
( recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 4: uncover, clean protein skimmer and all filtration. Return to normal light schedule.

This process worked for me with great results, I hope it will help and work for you!

Would you happen to have a bottle of this on hand. I would like to see what the active ingredients are in this stuff.

I do and the ingredients are not listed. I do know that there is bacteria that is contained with in the bottles that compete for the food sorce starving the Dino and killing it. At least that is how I believe it works (in a nutshell) but I'm no scientist, lol

oh ok. I am thinking whatever I had was probably not dinos because with regular cleaning it has subsided greatly.

Did any of your snails die? Did it go away when the lights were off? Do you have any pics to confirm if it was or was not Dino?

Yes some snails died, not sure how many. It's hard to get a good count with all the holes and caves in my rock work. I did not have anyone confirm it was dinos. Was/is stringy brown hair like algae with bubbles on my rocks and sand. my back glass was covered in brown and bubbles. I didn't do lights out, just brushed the rocks with a tooth brush and cleaned the back glass. I am using a HOB filter with a cartridge of phosguard, a cartridge of denitrate and two carbon cartridges. I replaced all four.

That's good thing that your getting an RODI system but I hope you know that's not the fix to the problem. I've beaten Dino in 2 different tanks. I'll give you the info tomorrow and what I did, 3 days and it was gone for me on the 2 tanks. I had knee surgery today or I'd get it to you now.

I need this info, so discouraged!

ahh the "brown plague of death" I had this in some of my frag tanks 3-4 years ago and ended up driving me to leave the hobby. couldn't get rid of it no matter what I did.
why cant some of the aquatic medical companies develop something that will wipe this stuff out??

Too much risk for the company to release a product that will rid of dinoflagellates due to the fact that our corals have dinoflagellates.
There is a way but it is harsh.
