broke my big skimmer. You can see an intact motor and it’s attachment and then the broken one . Can not find any parts for the skimmer so not sure what I can do. It’s a beast so want to salvage it if possible. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you,
Jim
that looks like acrylic pipe . if so you can use any acrylic solvent to repair it.. If its ABS They make solvent for that as well. This stuff welds the parts back together , I would not recommend a adhesive unless you cant find proper solvent ..
The other option is get a bore bit and drill it our and insert a new pipe.... This will take a bit more skill and best done on a drill press ..
I will try to get better info later tonight. I have to take it apart to see how the connection is done. Appreciate the replies very much. I see some hope maybe.
Acrylic solvent should repair it fairly easily. I would use weld on 16. Seperate the bulkhead from the pump. Apply to the break and reattach. After it sets up for 24 hours I would apply a bead of weldon around the outside to build up a fillet and reinforce the joint.
The only way to make it as strong as it was before would be to remove the broken piece and replace it.
