My purple bonsai has a few tiny branches that are turning white. The most drastic is one at the very base. Could this be bleaching or would that be some change in the skin due to growth. Never noticed it going white before. It's a decent size at around 3 inches.

It is hard to tell based on the picture. Most SPS will have white tips as growth. The skeleton growth out first then the polyps cover the skeleton

If it's turning white at the base, it's not groWth, it's dying.
Looks like it's lost all its color or Looks like it's shaded.
Need some more info

Can’t tell much at all.
The pic looks both out of focus and dark green.

It was a picture at night when I noticed the white tip. I just posted an updated pic with the lights on

Yeah it looks fine, but the corallites on the tip don't usually look like that. It kind of looks like maybe it got nipped or something... little surface damage.. Doubt it would be an issue.

Just look close at it. If the POLYP is white, it's growth, if the corallite around it is white, it might be damage.

Hard to tell for sure from the pics.

Ok the polyps are not white. It may be getting damaged. I am currently having an issue in my tank for some unknown reason. My larger acan colony is receeding as well.

All parameters are stable so I have been at a loss to what is the issue.

Sometimes it's the things we don't check regularly. Get yourself an ICP test kit and find out where everything is. Then attack the problem. No guess work when you have the full chem analysis.

I will try that out. It would be my last resort so hopefully it shows the issue. Thank you
