I bought a mushroom and RODI water from my LFS. The RODI water turned out to have crazy high ammonia (smelled foul + Red Sea test confirmed). Therefore, I wasn’t able to do a proper quarantine/dip bc my tank is only 5 gallons (little water to spare).

So to avoid flatworms I just took a coffee mug full of water and dropped in 1/4 capful of revive and let him sit for 5 minutes. I took him out after 5 minutes because he looked ticked. I saw a few things jump off him but they looked like copepods.

This is a pic of him in my tank (I think detaching from the rock) for his own protection I’ve cut the bottom off of a plastic bottle and placed it over him so there’s no current on him.

My main question is how he looks underneith... is that how he should look?

It should pull through fine. Just give it some time.

Should I leave the plastic cover over him? He was rocking in the flow a lot and I was worried he’d get ripped off.

The flow is generated by a 35g HOB filter on the 5.5g tank

I would take the cover off. It may very well detach from the frag plug. It will find a spot it prefers and anchor down if this happens. That will be the spot the mushroom coral prefers, ime.

Okay! I was just worried about the filter intake
