Is this how GSP grows?

Hey guys, new to this hobby. I got this GSP back in October time frame. Seems to be doing well but it's got this branch thing coming out of it. Is this how they're supposed to grow? First two show it closed at night. Third has it open.

There is a branching variant of gsp that grows like that. Could be what you have. Normal gsp lays down a mat and then grows polyps on it. You’ll see the lighter purple mat and then the polyps will grow in.

Normal. Mine does that in an attempt to spread. If it touches something with that, it can grow onto it.

Yea it usually encrusts across the rocks but sometimes it’ll branch out.
it usually happens when the colony overgrows the rock and starts branching in hopes of getting onto another(don’t let it) but it looks healthy

God I wish I could get mine to grow, or even extend these days. Everyone says it’s a pest, I’d love mine to grow.

Thanks guys. It's slowly growing on the rock it's on with plenty of room to spread on the rock and a good bit away from the main structure. Just making sure it wasn't anything to worry about.
