Hi all

I’ve always QT fished and put in an angel fish 3 days ago. Who seems fine but this morning my lion and fox fish. Two of the longest standing fish in the tank have come down with something.

I think it’s ich. I don’t have corals but I do have crabs

@Jay Hemdal and @vetteguy53081 are very helpful in diagnosing but they'll need pictures and/or video in white light. Are they eating? Breathing rapidly? Itching against the rocks or sand bed?

So yesterday everything was clear. All were eating fine. Today as I was heading to work I saw this. The fox and lion looks different. The fox looks like ich to me. The lion I’m not sure. They are in a tank with Inverts and not sure what to do

Yikes :/ what should I do. They are big fish. It’s. 200g tank an no way to catch and qt them all.

I guess we need to know the enemy we are fighting so we have had the big 3 lol what is the best approach to delete it from the DT.

I have some crabs in there with some
Snails but nothing else. Obviously the fish are the priority. Is there any medication combo I can use to save all the fish

Photos under white light is really needed here. From what I can see, this is a moderate case of ich, you’ll need to get a treatment started right away. The trouble is, you can’t really treat the fish in a tank with coral rock, that tends to pull the copper medication out of the water. Do you have a treatment tank available?

Do you think pulling out all the rock and as many of my small hermits/snails as possible then dosing the tank with something like cupramine?

Oh no! When you took the fish out, did it look like the white stuff was patches or did it look like sprinkles on the body?
I’ve attached a photo

So everything ate axcept for the lion. My lion usually eats anything in the tank. The fox pretty much devoured everything.

many advice on what to treat he display tank? I was gonna hook the crabs out and use Fritz fixich. But I don’t think the lion has ich. I think it’s fungal maybe?

The lion has ich, just that it has gone to the stage on it where the trophonts cause skin changes and you start to see cloudy eyes, etc. it could also have other issues, multiple diseases are not heard of.
At this point, even copper may not act fast enough to save the lion, I wouldn’t rely on any “reef safe” medications at this point.
