Is this ich?

I got this blonde naso tang from the lfs just yesterday...the guy said it was quarantined.

When it arrived it had blotches as it was stressed out. But it is heating actively, swimming. I just noticed some white spots in the fin, tail. Is this ich?

I can see one spot, but it’s too large to be ich. Can you retake the photo under white lights and include a video?

Two spots do not signify ich but what will is breathing rate, if number of dots increase and if location on the fish increases

I can see some indistinct skin cloudiness, but I can’t make out the typical pinhead or smaller white spots of ich.

The ones on the pectoral fin looked like white spots to me..I am not sure.

The quarantine tank that I can setup is only about 40L in volume....( 1.5 ft in length)..I am afraid it will stress him out even more.

Should I transfer him to qt. What medication would you recommend. I know the standard is copper but unfortunately copper meds + testing kits are extremely difficult to come by where I live.

That quarantine tank is too small. If it does turn out to be ich, all exposed fish will need to be treated.

I don't see any invertebrates in your video. If you have a few in there, what if you move THEM to the quarantine tank and treat the fish in the main tank with hyposalinity? This would treat your fish for ich as well as flukes.

Hi , I am really sorry for the late reply..got busy with some college work.

The spots have disappeared, the fish seems to be happy ..its roaming around...eating a lot. But its a bit skinny.

I dont want to quarantine unless I absolutely have to ..as the quarantine tank is too small

The spots seems to have disappeared on their own....bro is actively roaming around and accepting food..

Yes - it is a bit thin.

One thing about ich - due to its life cycle, early on, the trophonts (the spots you see) will drop off the fish and turn into tomonts. These live on the bottom for 2 or 3 days and then release a swarm of tomites that will reinfect the fish. This results in a situation where the fish looks good for a few days, but then the spots come back in greater numbers.

If this wasn't ich, it may have been "mucus plugs" a stress reaction that some fish, especially tangs will create. Those will go away and not return as long as the original source of the stress (which might never be known) has resolved.
