This I hard to capture in a picture, but I wanted to know if this is normal or not.
My Emperor Angel I got as a 1” baby over a year ago is fatter in the middle of the body and skinner in the first 3rd of the fish (section by the fins.)
I’ll put a few pictures so you can see how the front is skinner and the middle plumper.

Seems to be acting completely normal.
Eats mainly spirulina brine and Pellets.
As well as Mysis every so often.

This fish is prone to flukes and may be the case

But could they pop up so randomly?
I haven’t added any fish to this system in over a year.
Everything was originally treated with copper and Prazi.
I can do another Prazi round now, but it seems so out of the blue

In many cases yes

Ahh ok is this a Prazi treatment?
Thanks!
Yes and dose at 85% of recommended and allow it to work for 8 days, change water and apply one more application lasting 8 days and do add an air stone as Prazi lowers both oxygen and appetite which may be the case or part of it

Have you added anything else aside? Diseases don’t only come on other fish. They can be hitch hikers even on inverts or rock if the system it was in before had an infection you had no idea about.

I see nothing wrong with your Emperor. Color looks good and he is growing. They usually get blotchy patches when they are sick mainly with Flukes. If he is eating and not flashing or scratching, I would just monitor for now. A word of Caution though. I have one (6") and they really do grow fast and need a large tank. They also get nasty as they mature and probably will eat your LPS Corals and dominate the Tank. Mine hates my Foxface and will chase my smaller Fish but is too slow to get them but does seem to ignore my 3 Tangs.

Ahh just seeing this now :)
Yeah so I think it what just extra fat there lol
It was eating really well and healthy.
I did 2 doses of Prazi just in case.
Almost lost 2 fish with the second dose..
I think there was a war
I had to nurse my flame angel back from lying on its side barely moving, and my Tomini Tang that went into a neurological thing, shaking in front of a rock for a week.
But thankfully that’s past.

Having said that, about its size..
Yes I grew it up from about an inch baby to almost 5” fish. I wanted to grow it out until its colors change and then sell it like I’ve done before, but it was only starting to change now, and was getting too large and aggressive for the tank, so I sold him for much less with juvenile colors
