It's really hard to make that diagnosis, something could be irritating the mantel like aiptasia, near by corals. Is there a possibility that a fish or invert is nipping the clam. Looks like a beautiful Squamosa. Are you running any charcoal?

Right now I am fishless everyone is in Qt. I do run carbon. Was also running gfo and removed it last night. The clam shell seems to be a favorite destination for one of my hermit crabs. Maybe thats the problem.

I would change the carbon very frequent and let the clam be. Messing with it usually causes more issues.

Seems to have resolved. Looks okay but still no new growth at all. Did a nice size WC and did a bunch of carbon changes.

My blue squammies go in spurts... grow and inch in a few months and then take six months off. Perhaps I am an outlier.
