Is this tank no good?

I was putting together a RedSea Reefer G2, and found a small chip in the glass by the bottom corner. It looks like the chip is relatively small, but I am worried it may be compromising the seal. Should I be wary of using the tank?

Sorry, but with all their failures any defect near a seam on a Red Sea tank would give me pause.
Hopefully someone more familiar with tank structure can give a more definitive answer, or a fix if they think it’s a problem.

It's a little hard for me to tell on mobile but if that is infact a chip/crack then it's absolutely unusuable.

It is a skinny sliver, maybe 0.25mm thick, that extends for 1.5mm in height and 0.5mm in width. I don't think the glass is cracked through it's just a little on the outside that chipped off.

It ends at the silicone. The chip is still attached, and I have not tried to remove it yet. Here are some more pictures from different angles.

There are two parts to the chip/ sliver. The top one sticks out and is easier to see in the image. The bottom one is longer but looks thinner. It seems like it is just the outside of the glass pane, and does not go deeper.

I've had plenty of instances of getting water on the floor and combining the failure rates of red sea tanks + that chip? Still a hard no on usable from me.

You should be wary of Red Sea in general.

Sounds like the consensus is to not use it. But if you do i would definitely look up some videos on how to properly sand and smooth the chip to make sure I'd doesnt start to crack and spead.

Wait a minute!... do you have an entire pane of glass that extends beyond the tank stand-- meaning it's unsupported-- or is that just an optical illusion/me misreading the photo?

In any event, that's a bad place for a chip, given (I presume) that the full weight of the tank water forms the most stress there at the bottom.

You are not misreading the photo, I had just placed the tank on the stand. It is not in it's final spot yet and I will make sure to support the pane before I fill it with water.

I reached out to RedSea to see what they make of it. If I cannot get it warrantied, does anyone have experience replacing one of the glass panes on a redsea tank? Or do I need to buy a whole new tank...

Just having gone through a leak myself, anything on the bottom is a now way for me.
I would get a new tank.

If this is a brand new tank and it showed up with even a major scratch (much less a chip) it should be replaced by the vendor.
