Hi all,

1 month ago I got this neon green toadstool that was placed lower on my rockwork. After 3 weeks I moved him to a higher position on my upper reef. After a few days he started losing small patches of the neon green skin. Out of fear he was getting too much light i moved him down to the gravel to recover. The past few days he has been getting worse and now the remaining green neon top flesh layer blew off and some flesh is exposed. Hes not getting overbearing flow either. Should i give him more time or should i throw in the towel with him? Pics from beginning to now. All tank perameters are normal.

0 ammonia
0 nitrite
1 nitrate
.011ppm phosphate
8.1-8.3 ph
10-11 alkalinity
350 calcium
Temp 77

Is it time to give up on him?

Is it possible that the large chunk of the neon green shell can survive on its own where I placed it on that shelf?... If that starts looking like its decomposing ill toss it but i have heard of ppl placing mushroom caps on rock and they take hold.

Toadstools are hearty little buggers I've run mine though the ringer. From moves, to tank neglect, to dropping them on the ground (when trying to glue down) still alive and doing amazing. You can bring it back move it to a better spot, give it a bit more light, low flow, it'll come back.

I’d just leave it be/ignore it. Wait until it’s completely gone before writing it off. The only thing I’d try is a lil more flow

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
